Become a surf coach
At the Atlantic Surf Lodge, we also have the pleasure of organizing, with the collaboration of Austrian Surfing, the passing of ISA level 1 and 2 as well as the International Lifesaving Certificate (ISA / ILS Water Safety).
Surf coach, master swimmer, lifeguard at sea, passionate surfer in search of professionalization, this formula of preparation for the test within our surfcamp is super complete and will allow you to obtain your precious sesame to practice.
01. ISA / ILS Water Safety Certificate
Our goal is to set a standard, which creates a level of lifesaving skill to assist qualified rescuers.
02. ISA and AS Level 1 Surf Instructor
Our goal is to train knowledgeable surf coaches having the skills and knowledge to independently teach beginner to intermediate level surfers at surf schools, as well as assisting the head coach/level 2 instructor with their duties at surf camps (when special skills are required).
03. AS and ISA level 2 Surf instructor
The Level 2 Surf Instructor is qualified to instruct intermediate to advanced level surfers (up to club level surfers) and has the knowledge to act as a camp manager and head coach.
Due to legal requirements, we can only recognize internationally valid certificates that authorize the holder to work as a lifeguard or lifeguard in an ocean environment. Courses given in swimming pools, lakes, rivers or the various courses for other aquatic activities having any connection with the topics of first aid and beach rescue cannot be recognized, as this could lead to significant problems in case of emergency.
As we are well aware that many certificates that exist nowadays do not meet these requirements, we are happy to be able to offer – in cooperation with our partner and waterman Dean Gough – the ISA / ILS Water Safety Course in combination with the Surf Coach Lifesaver Award Great Britain (SLSGB) and thus the two most renowned rescue accreditations in the world, directly after the Surf Instructor.

There are no hidden fees in our courses! The only charge to be paid locally is the “taxe de séjour” of €1/day, a French tourist tax which is always collected by the host and goes directly to the authorities.

* To prepare instructors who want to work in France to French lifesaving standards, we will also show you how to use the fins (flippers) – please bring them with you for the course if you are interested in this flipper rescue training!
ISA and AS
Level 1 and 2
The included ISA accreditation is the only accreditation recognized globally by the ISA.
Austrian Surfing is recognized by the ISA ( International Surfing Association) , the ESF ( European Surfing Federation ) and our national sports organization Sport Austria (and therefore also federally recognized).
Flat Water SUP on lakes and river arms is increasingly used as an alternative for days without/with small/too big waves. We have created a special one day module for our surf instructors who are interested in getting their ISA Flat Water SUP accreditation.
* If only German-speaking participants register for certain courses, we will organize the course in German.
The course consists of the ISA L1 Surf Instructor course and additional modules developed by AS to meet the specific needs of surf camps. This combination has established our coaching program as the most requested in surf camps in Europe and worldwide.
Therefore, in addition to advanced surfer training skills, the focus is also on the organizational side of surf training, management and leadership skills.

The ISA Certified Judge course is included in the Level 2 course at no additional cost!
* We have received many requests lately: Please understand that it is not possible to do the course without food or accommodation for organizational and logistical reasons. We are happy to have a suitable venue for this very demanding course. Thanks to its infrastructure, we can organize the course as efficiently and quickly as possible!
